ABOUT MONTESSORI
Over one hundred years ago in San Lorenzo, Rome on the 6th of January 1907 Maria Montessori began working with a group of disadvantaged children, helping them to learn and develop. What transpired was the first Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House) that grew into the worldwide Montessori educational movement for children.
Through her work Dr Montessori’s realization was that: “...mankind can hope for a solution to its problems, among which the most urgent are those of peace and unity, only by turning its attention and energies to the discovery of the child and to the development of the great potentialities of the human personality in the course of its formation.”
The aim of Montessori is to place all the children in our world at the centre of society and to assist them in becoming caring, self-motivated and fulfilled individuals, able to create a harmonious and peaceful future for humanity. Montessori is the single largest pedagogy in the world with over 8,000 schools on 6 continents.

FREEDOM WITHIN LIMITS
“If men of the future are to be strong, they must be independent and free.” ~ Maria Montessori
A prominent theme of the Montessori philosophy is freedom within limits. The limits are role-modeled by the teachers as well as the older children in the classroom. The child is then allowed to explore their learning environment and learn at their own pace which will foster their independence and build their self esteem. The teacher and the fellow students are always there to assist a child who may be having difficulties choosing appropriately and maintaining a proper behavioural attitude in classroom.
